About the Trail

This is the official website of the Heritage Hemp Trail™ and the Kentucky Hemp Heritage Alliance.

The Heritage Hemp Trail is an initiative of the KHHA and affiliates, featuring 20 locations in the bluegrass region of the state with a significance to the early Kentucky hemp industry. Each site offers a unique learning experience for visitors, from historic homes built from hemp wealth, to historic markers describing leading hemp producing areas. The trail is self-guided and can be access here online. Trail maps on hemp paper are also available at each participating locations

Founded in 2017, the Kentucky Hemp Heritage Alliance (KHHA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the history of hemp in Kentucky. As industrial hemp continues to flourish as an agricultural crop under the Kentucky Hemp Pilot Program, the goal of the KHHA is to provide education through interpretations of the past. The KHHA and its initiatives aim to educate state residents and visitors, along with online users world-wide, about the significant impact hemp had on the economic development, while creating a renewed understanding of the crop and its economic potential today. Click on the links below to learn more about the KHHA and its initiatives.
